Looking for a new adventure this summer with the children? My kids absolutely flipped for Sky Zone!
If you’re a regular reader, you know that my boys are going to “Camp Jenny” this summer… which means it’s all up to me to find fun and exciting adventures. When Sky Zone reached out to see if we were game, we jumped at the chance. (I know you’re groaning at the bad pun, but I just couldn’t help myself!) And while we were invited to try out Sky Zone in Elmhurst, Illinois for free, this Sky Zone review is 100% my opinion.
Sky Zone Review
What is Sky Zone? It’s the original indoor trampoline park. And when I say park, I mean impressive complex! There are a lot of fun outlets to choose from. And we tried them all…. freestyle jump, basketball hoops, dodgeball and the foam zone. (Activities available at Sky Zone parks vary by location.)
We arrived right when Sky Zone opened, so we had the place to ourselves initially. With an easy online system, I already had filled out the paperwork, which made check-in easier.
Be sure to set up your time online. It guarantees you a jumping spot on busy days. Who wants to show up and realize you have to wait? Not me!
We had signed up for 90 minutes of jumping. Do you think that was enough time? Keep reading to find out.
First things first… you’re going to need sticky socks. Sky Zone carries specialized socks with serious stick on the bottom… Once you purchase them, they are yours to keep so you can bring them back with you next time. (And trust me, there will be a next time.)
The first thing I noticed was how clean the whole facility is! Also, it’s very well organized. There are benches for taking off/putting on your socks and shoes, and you can rent lockers if you have items you want to put away.
Once we were all set, we headed straight to the Freestyle Jump. Wow! It’s a wall-to-wall area of trampolines. With what they call “trampoline courts,” you can jump to your heart’s content. We saw all ages in this area… from toddlers to teenagers. There were also a couple of specialty long trampoline courts… perfect for the gymnast in you.
Plus the slanted side walls add in an extra layer of fun. My boys loved jumping off of the trampoline walls. Me… I’m old school.
Next we checked out the SkySlam area, which is Sky Zone’s basketball area to dunk hoops. We appreciated that there are hoops of different heights so even my shorter dude could enjoy that part of the facilities. Because, let’s face it, being short and basketball don’t always go together.
Then we were off to the Foam Zone. Here you get to jump off the trampoline, right into a massive foam pit! Both of my boys went wild here… doing flip after flip after flip into the pit. I guess all of those years of gymnastics came out!
But far and away, my boys’ favorite spot was the Ultimate Dodgeball. Once Sky Zone started to get busy, dodgeball took on a whole new meaning. Folks split up into teams (with the help of the staff member in that area) and everyone was off… jumping, tossing, throwing, dodging. We had dads, kids, moms and teens on the trampolines going for the big win.
Game after game after game, my kids absolutely loved loved loved playing dodgeball. They loved it so much, I ended up extending out time. So while I originally signed up for 90 minutes of jumping, we ended up participating for a full 120 minutes. These boys got their workout in!
When our time was up, my boys were absolutely dripping in sweat with the biggest grins on their faces.
We enjoyed a treat from the snack bar before heading off. It’s a good place to cool off, grab a drink and refuel before heading back to the trampolines.
I should mention there is a parent lounge. I noticed a number of moms and dads doing work or reading. I, on the other hand, was too busy having fun with my kids to sit.
Although you may think Sky Zone is just for children, don’t be fooled. This place is a blast for adults. Plus, we noticed there are “glow” nights with lasers, blacklight and music… sounds like an amazing night for teenagers.
The boys are already asking when they can come back… we’re thinking it might be the perfect place for a birthday celebration.
Find your local Sky Zone and bring the whole family! It’s a blast.
