Sesame Street Cookie Monster Cupcakes

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved Cookie Monster.

He’s fuzzy. He’s blue. And he loves cookies.

What is there not to like?

Now if I had ever had a Cookie Monster birthday party, these would have been the absolutely perfect cupcakes to have!!!

If you don’t feel like making cupcakes, you can always make a Cookie Monster cake.

Cupcake Recipe:

Cupcake Ingredients: 

  • 1 3/4 C Flour
  • 2 C Sugar
  • 1 C   Cocoa
  • 1 1/2 TSP Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 TSP Baking Powder
  • 1 TSP Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 C Whole Milk
  • 1/2 C  Oil
  • 2 TSP Vanilla
  • 1 C Boiling Water

Cookie Monster Cupcakes Directions:

Step 1: Line the cupcake tins with paper liners. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

Step 3: In a separate bowl add the eggs, whole milk, oil, and vanilla.

Step 4: Add the bowl containing the eggs, whole milk, oil, and vanilla to the bowl holding the dry ingredients.

Step 5: Mix all together until fully incorporated.

Step 6: Beat for 3 minutes on medium.

Step 7: Slowly add the boiling water starting with a small amount then pour in the remaining boiling water.

Step 8: The batter may be a little runny.

Step 9: Scoop batter into cupcake lined cups until 3/4s filled.

Step 10: Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Step 11: Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes.

Step 12: Take out of the cupcake pan placing on a wire rack until completely cooled.

Blue Frosting Recipe:

Frosting Ingredients: 

  • 1 C soft unsalted butter
  • 4 + C powder sugar
  • 4 TBSP heavy whipping cream
  • Blue gel food coloring

Frosting Directions: 

Step 1: Cream the butter and powder sugar until it looks light and creamy.

Step 2: If it doesn’t cream add several drops of the heavy whipping cream until it creams.

Step 3: Test to see if the frosting can form and hold a stiff peak by taking a spoonful of frosting and turning the spoon upside down. If the frosting stays on the spoon it is ready if not then….

Step 4: Add more powder sugar 1/2 C at a time…. mix well.

Step 5: If ready scoop the frosting into a pastry bag with a large star tip.

Step 6: Twist the open end of the pastry bag to push the frosting to the tip.

Step 6: Holding the bag straight up and down frost the cupcake straight up and down.

  • 1 chocolate chip cookie

Cookie Face Directions:

Place 2 large candy eyes on the top of the frosted cupcake

Cut the chocolate chip cookie in half.
