There is a local pond with a stream that we visit every Spring to try and see the tadpoles.

Later in the season, we love walking along the pond trying to spot the frogs — often you have to spy their eyeballs just sticking out of the mud.

The best way to find them is listen for their croaking.

Are Frog Reptiles

No, frogs are not reptiles. They are amphibians.

While both amphibians and reptiles are ectothermic (cold-blooded) vertebrates, amphibians typically have moist, permeable skin and undergo metamorphosis, whereas reptiles have dry, scaly skin and do not undergo metamorphosis.

Are Frog Omnivores

Frogs are generally not omnivores; they are primarily carnivorous. They typically feed on insects, spiders, worms and other small invertebrates.

However, there are some species of frogs that may occasionally consume plant matter, making them omnivorous to some extent.

Can Frog Breathe Underwater

Frogs can’t breathe underwater like fish do; instead, they absorb oxygen through their skin while submerged.

They also have lungs and can breathe air, so they come to the surface periodically to take in oxygen.

Some frog species, like the African clawed frog, have specialized adaptations that allow them to stay underwater for extended periods by extracting oxygen from the water through their skin.
