Personally, our dinner conversation was getting pretty stale.

My boys were throwing one-sentence responses and that was about it.

I couldn’t get them to tell me anything about their day.

They loved this idea so much they even ask what the question is before we even have a chance to sit down at the table.

Now that’s a hit in my books.

  1. These are awesome! I’d love to hear my kids answers to making up new family rules.

    1. I was quite surprised by some of the answers… and the fact that the conversation sometimes went to the next day! The kids even ask what the question of the day is if I don’t get to it. 🙂

  2. Great post Jenny! At the moment I am still teaching table manners to my 3 1/2 yr old and 18 month old. Most dinner times are monopolized by my daughter that can’t stop talking (EVER) and my 18 month old throwing food. It is impossible to have a conversation.

My kids are a little young for a lot of these topics but I can see the reasoning behind it and can adjust those ideas to suit my young family.

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. LOL — It is completely that way… but it won’t be that way forever. Promise. And then you’ll be ready for these conversation starters 🙂
